Ben grew up in southern Maryland in a town called Pomfret, about 30 miles south of Washington, DC. He first arrived in Hampton Roads courtesy of the US Navy in 1997 and lived in Ocean View from then until 2000. He enjoyed living on the Virginia Beach oceanfront for a year after that.
Ben spent nine years (1996-2005) serving in the US Navy as a photographer/videographer, winning several military and photography awards. During his service, he was stationed on the USS Nimitz in Bremerton, WA and Norfolk, VA and with the Naval Media Center in Pearl Harbor, HI. His time in service included being an embedded videographer during the initial "Shock and Awe" phase of Operation Iraqi Freedom, and shooting some of the first war footage seen worldwide on the major networks. In 2005 he separated from the Navy with an honorable discharge and moved from Hawaii to Greenville, NC, where he started a commercial photography studio.
His time in the Navy taught him firsthand the unique circumstances military families deal with when relocating. He has a servant's heart and a true desire to help others. While working with clients he asks himself, "How would I want my family to be treated when looking for a home?" That is the kind of attention and service that he aims to provide. He works hard to be the best agent he can be and to develop a reputation for dealing fairly and honorably with his clients. While he does not have a background in Real Estate, he has been mentored by some of the best agents in Hampton Roads.
Ben moved back to Hampton Roads in 2009 with the sole purpose of being a real estate agent serving in this area. The Hampton Roads area is rich in history and culture making it a great area to enjoy with his wife, Susan, and raise his two sons (plus their dog, cat, rabbit and chinchilla). Being a full time real estate agent allows him to help relocating families to make Hampton Roads their new home as well.
Kayla Pope has a genuine love for life that certainly carries over into her role as an agent. Originally from Michigan, she relocated to Norfolk with the Navy in 1996. She obtained her real estate license in 1999 and decided to pursue that career path after an honorable discharge from the military in 2005. Since then, Kayla has been working full-time and has truly found her niche in the industry.
Kayla’s goal is to never simply sell a home, but that her clients are assured their questions are answered and that they fully understand the purchasing or selling process. Kayla’s clients find her to be patient, understanding, and thorough. She enjoys educating them in every aspect of home ownership and prides herself on practicing integrity and empathy with every individual.
Kayla’s areas of interest and expertise include, but are not limited to: first time home buyers, military relocation, listing homes, and new construction. Her experience with the military gave her a first-hand understanding of the needs of individuals and families relocating in and out of Hampton Roads. Whatever circumstance a client may face, Kayla is happy to accommodate.
When Kayla isn’t working with clients, she’s most likely spending time with her family and friends. She and her husband, Craig, who is active Navy, have six godchildren that they love to spoil. They enjoy skating, bowling, traveling, shopping, amusement parks, and playing Nintendo Wii. It’s clear Kayla has a big heart and generous spirit. She hopes to one day own and operate a group of transitional homes nation wide for battered and abused women
As a proud native of Hampton Roads, Rhonda Vaughn feels a strong connection to the community. Besides the four years she attended The University of Virginia in Charlottesville, she has resided in the area her entire life. As the daughter of a soldier in the Army, living in Norfolk, Virginia Beach, and Portsmouth has provided her with a solid upbringing. Rhonda’s interest in real estate began when she and her husband, Jonathan, were selling their first home and searching for a new construction property back in 2004. While multiple agents were interested in selling their home, they weren’t willing to assist them in the purchasing and building process because of their credit history. Frustrated with the service, or lack thereof, that she received, Rhonda took matters into her own hands. She quickly educated herself on credit and lending, and continued her quest for an agent who had her best interest at heart. After finally finding someone who would truly listen and help her vision come to fruition, she had a great experience building a home for her family.
Through her own buying and selling process, she realized that real estate would be the perfect fit for her skill set. That same year, she became certified and started working in the new construction division of one of the largest real estate companies in the United States. After some time Rhonda made her way to The Simon Team at Wainwright Real Estate, where she now happily calls home. There, she thrives on the fact that her work is centered on the rewarding experience of helping people make important informed decisions that make a positive difference in their lives.
Hello! My name is Sam Sansalone and I'm a native Hampton Roads resident. Having been in the service/hospitality business for 7 years, I realize that listening to my clients' needs is the most important aspect in the real estate service. With my in-depth understanding of the area neighborhoods, it's important to place an emphasis on time spent listening to my clients. I can then easily locate the home that fits their family. When we find that perfect home together it is a very exciting experience!
For as long as I can remember I have always enjoyed being surrounded by people. Being an extremely social person has helped me get to know the in's and out's of the Hampton Roads area- including a deep knowledge of local hot spots and sites on the Southside and Peninsula.
I am a huge sports fanatic - especially baseball and football! I love what I do! Helping families find the perfect home and community to build their future in is a big responsibility that I am thankful to be a part of.
